Beginning her career as a part-time model in the 1960s and paid in part with a Polaroid camera and film, Joyce Tenneson began a long and distinctive photographic career, creating powerful expressions of individual inner being and female archetypes. "I want to allow others to reveal and celebrate aspects of themselves that are usually hidden," Tenneson has said of her ethereal portraits.
